The Party's Over....

GD and "Lady GaGa"

My GD left for her home in Illinois on Sunday, and its sure been quiet around here since she and her family headed on out into the warm sunshine.  The week had been filled with tasty strawberry picking, chicken wrangling, vet visits, garage sales, a flea market, tea party with Great Gramma, horseback riding, and playing with the Corgis.  Evenings we spent playing Old Maid and Black Jack gambling for pennies.  I had forgotten how active 9 yr olds can be, but she was very polite and helpful, much credit due to her parents training.

GD learned why chickens need to consume gravel to help grind up the grass and hand-outs.  She learned how to trick-train the young pullets, too!  And, thanks to her daily handling of the young ones, they will be much easier to handle for me later this year.  The only trick that was a little bothersome was the one where they learned to fly to the top of their little plastic house - because from THAT height, they figured out how to flap up over the top of the 6 ft. tall chain link fence!!!  At first I figured that they were digging and getting underneath the fence to the "great outdoors".  But after watching for a while, I noted their wings were long and strong enough to propel them up, up and AWAY over the top of that run, and we'd have to wrangle them back into the pen once again!  We did a little feather clipping, and there's been no problem since that day.

This morning it was back to work for me...fondly remembering the fun and activities of last week...

Oh Sweetie...
Just look at that precious face. Love the dimples when she smiles. Just lights up your camera.

I would say she takes right after you. Loves the girls, and already has the touch at 9 years old. Can you imagine how great she would be if she lived in your town? There would be no stopping her. She would have her own hen house, I am sure.

Love the shirt you all painted. How pretty and she is so darn proud of it too.

She rides beautifully. Does she live in the city or the country in Illinois? She sure looks like a natural to me.

Thanks for sharing with me this evening sweetie, I so enjoyed myself here at the Chicken Wrangler hen house this evening. So happy to hear you are well. Memories to last for a little while anyway.

Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Okay she is a living doll and she is always going to remember these times with her grandma. She looks like she had a ball doing everything around the house with you. From making T-shirts to riding horses - to learning about chicken!

I bet you really enjoyed your time with her. I am lucky my grandbabies all live close to me. So I see them often.

Your granddaughter is beautiful! She looks like a natural at riding the horse! I'm sure she takes after you! Sounds like Camp Grandma was a success! What girl wouldn't love all the fun activities you two did all week! I hope she gets to visit again real soon!

Hugs,
Angela

Sounds like a visit she will remember forever! I know it was fun and wonderful for you too. We just spent a week with some of our Grands from TX, and it was great. Once they leave, it is just TOO quiet for a while, isn't it? At least your work sounds pretty interesting that you are going back too even if it isn't as fun as "Summer Camp" has been.
